BRC CERTIFICATION
The BRC Global Food Safety Standard was originally developed in 1998 and undergoes revisions regularly, with a global view considered in recent thoughts focusing on food safety. This Standard provides a framework to assist food manufacturers in producing safe food and manage the product quality to meet the requirements of domestic and international customers.
The BRC Standard is developed to specify the operational, safety and food quality criteria required to be in effect within the company, to comply with the obligations related to legal compliance and consumer protection, all designed to allow an assessment of the facilities, operating systems and procedures by a third party certification authority competent for such task.
The Certification in this protocol requires the company to have a complete understanding of the products it produces, manufactures and distributes, in addition to operating systems to identify and control significant product safety risks. The BRC Standard principles are based on the commitment from senior management and on a system based on the HACCP – Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, with a comprehensive scope covering areas of food safety, quality, legality and authenticity.
The BRC Standard audit result is expressed in descending order, with the highest score being AA, followed by A, B, C, and D being the lowest score.
Frigorífico Barra Mansa received an AA grade in the audit conducted in January 2020, which is the best score available.
